Voids Specialist Helen is transforming the way we manage empty homes, ensuring new tenants can move into a space that’s ready to make their own.
Joining Staffs Housing earlier this year, Helen brings over 20 years of experience in the affordable housing sector, primarily in repairs and maintenance. Her new role focuses on streamlining the management, repair, and re-letting of empty homes to ensure quality affordable housing is available for those who need it.
This month, Helen is excited to unveil a brand-new voids standard and process that will provide tenants with a ‘blank canvas’ a home they can take pride in from day one.
“I’ve been with Staffs Housing for several months now, and I absolutely love it here”, says Helen.
“With over 20 years in the sector, I’ve always found great satisfaction in the repairs and maintenance side of things. It’s incredibly rewarding to see homes returned to a re-lettable standard, ready for the next person who needs it.”
For Helen, improving the voids process was a top priority.
“When someone moves out, we need to get that home back to a standard where it’s ready for the next tenant”, she explains.
“Working closely with our Head of Property, we’ve reviewed the process to ensure homes are not only clean but truly ready to be made into a home.”
Helen knows firsthand the challenges of moving into a new place.
“There’s nothing worse than having to think about renovations on top of unpacking and settling in. The changes we’re making eliminate that stress, giving tenants a home they can feel proud of right from the start.”
With final touches being made, Helen is thrilled to launch the new policy in the new year.
“I can’t wait to share more about it and see how it will make a difference to our tenants!”
